The companions of Peace and Pemberton Chapter No 4686 were honoured and delighted to receive the Second Provincial Grand Principal Paul Renton at their installation at Pemberton Masonic Hall. Paul was accompanied by fellow grand officer, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Ian Cuerden.

David Thomas was on duty as Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and he was supported by acting Provincial grand officers Jim Miller (PrGSN), George Fletcher (PrGStdB) and Steven Holcroft (PrGStwd) along with the Chairman of Wigan Group Geoffrey Porter and group charity steward Chris Reeman.
The chapter was opened for business by Mark Broomhead the first principal, with Corrie Wilson-MacCormack as second principal, and Brian Fairclough as third principal. The usual chapter business then being completed, the distinguished guest was received by the principals.
On entering the chapter, Paul was offered the sceptre, which he received, only to kindly and quickly return it. A dignified ceremony followed, with Corrie Wilson-MacCormack being well installed as first principal. Derek Ishmael took the office of second principal, with Brian Fairclough staying put as third.
After Corrie was safely installed and the officers duly appointed and invested, Paul stood to bring the greetings of himself and the Grand Superintendent, who he said, would have been delighted to witness such a ceremony.

Paul thanked the three Principals for taking office and congratulated them on their appointments, as well as all the companions who had taken part in the ceremony. He also took the unusual step of naming and personally thanking the acting Provincial officers present.
Corrie thanked Paul for his kind comments and was proud to present a charitable donation to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity for £150, and £100 each to the Grand Charity and Pemberton Masonic Hall Development Group. Paul replied that this was a creditable effort for such a small chapter. A fine festive board followed.
Corrie is a Lancastrian by birth, but moved south in the 1980s, returning in 2003. In the Craft, he is a member of Willows Lodge No 5343, and previously served twice as WM of Tuscan Oak and Lamberthead Lodge No 6387. A driving instructor in his working life, he is looking forward to driving Peace and Pemberton in the right direction.
